The Ministry of Agriculture established Coconut Development Board - CDB on dated on 12th January 1981, a statutory body for the cultivation, utilization and development of coconut production in India by increasing productivity with latest research and technology. The CDB head office in Kochi and 4 regional offices in popular cities in India – Bangalore, Chennai, Guwahati and Patna. Apart from the regional offices the 5 State Centres situated at Pitapally, Kolkata, Thane, Vijayawada and and Port Blair. The Coconut Development Board has a Technology center in Vazhakulam near Aluva in Kerala and a Field office at Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.
