The Indian Ordnance Factories has nearly 200 years of experience in development of defence products for India and abroad and the oldest and largest industrial setup which functions under the Ministry of Defence. Currently there are 41 Ordnance Factories in different part of India to fulfill the demand of defence related products range in the area of land, sea and air systems, with the primary objective of self reliance in equipping the armed forces with state of the art battlefield equipments. The corporate headquarters of Ordnance Factory Board is in Kolkata – West Bengal. The Indian Ordnance Factories was first developed in British reign in India by East India company of England to increase their political hold and economic interest.
