The problem figure set in the completion of series consists of four or five figures numbered A, B, C, D (and E in five figure pattern) followed by five figures numbered as 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 forming the answer figure set. In other words, the figures in the problem figure set follow a systematic change from left to right. Then one is required to find the nature of change and then decide the next figure (from the figure in answer figure set) subject to the same change. These changes can be of different nature and have been discussed with example.
Series Common Example
Each of the problem figure consist of five figures marker A, B, C, D, and E, you have to select from the answer figure
Problem Figure: 1
Answer Figure: 1
Solution: (4) Here in each step, square shifts to the next corner in the anticlockwise direction while the shaded circle goes to the next corner in the clockwise direction.
Problem Figure: 2
Answer Figure: 2
Solution: (2) In each step, the lines rotate in the clockwise direction and a half and a full line are alternately added to the figure.
Problem Figure: 3
Answer Figure: 3
Solution: (3) In each step, the arrow rotates sequentially by 2, 1, 3, 1, 4 …. in clockwise direction.
Problem Figure: 4
Answer Figure: 4
Solution: (5) In each step, an arrow or a straight line is added alternately to get the subsequent figure.
Problem Figure: 5
Answer Figure: 5
Solution: (4) In each step, an extra line is added in a fixed pattern.
Problem Figure: 6
Answer Figure: 6
Solution: (4) In the subsequent figure, the smaller arrow rotates anticlockwise through 90º and 45º alternately which the bigger arrow rotates through 135º in clockwise direction.
Problem Figure: 7
Answer Figure: 7
Solution: (4) The position of the two arcs is the same in alternate figure. The small figure is new and move half step anticlockwise each time.
Problem Figure: 8
Answer Figure: 8
Solution: (3) From fig. A to fig. B and fig. C to Fig. D the places of the elements are exchanged and so is their size. Obviously the same trend will from fig E to next one.
Problem Figure: 9
Answer Figure: 9
Solution: (3) Each time a new element is added in the two section of the figure in the bottom and top alternately. The existing elements move sideways.
Problem Figure: 10
Answer Figure: 10
Solution: (5) First three unites in the first column are moved in the subsequent figure. Then three unites in the second column are moved in the next figure. The changes in the first and second column are alternate. The topmost unit is placed at the bottom and the other two simply move upward.
Problem Figure: 11
Answer Figure: 11
Solution: (4) The arrow is turned 90(dig) clockwise in each subsequent figure.
Problem Figure: 12
Answer Figure: 12
Solution: (4) One shaded part (triangle) is moved one step forward. Two shaded parts are moved two steps forward. Three shaded parts are moved three steps in anti-clock direction.
