The Sainik Schools is managed by the Sainik Schools Society which comes under Ministry of Defence – INDIA. There are 26 Sainik schools covering all the states of the country to prepare students for entry into the NDA. In 1960 Uttar Pradesh Government open its first Sainik School which is inaugurated by Dr Sampoorna Nand. As the name suggests the admission process is very different than other schools, most of the seats are reserved for the children whose parents are Defence personals and some points are also given to the children whose parents are Govt. employee. The admission is only through national entrance test and focus on moulding their overall personality with emphasis on extracurricular activities.
