Notification of Indian Navy Artificer Apprentice Recruitment 2017 for 142 Sailors Batch: Indian Navy is looking for passionate applicants and invites applications from Unmarried Male Candidates (Indian Citizens and subjects of Nepal and Bhutan) for enrollment as Sailors for Artificer Apprentice (AA) - 142 Batch course commencing August 2017.

Officers recruitment is advertised through the Employment News and all important National and Regional news papers / dailies. Selection for Permanent Commission through NDA and Naval Academy cadet entry and CDSE (Graduate) entry is through a written examination conducted by the UPSC, followed by an interview by the Service Selection Board (SSB). For all other Direct Permanent Commission entries and Short Service Commission entries there is no written examination. These applications are short listed as per the criteria laid down by the Naval Headquarters, Directorate of Manpower Planning & Recruitment. Selection is through merit alone. It is mandatory that all Degrees and educational qualifications are from Educational Institutions recognized by the competent authority in the field. Degrees / mark sheets must be original or attested by appropriate authorities, as asked for in the advertisement. No compromise/relaxation will be made on this issue. All candidates desirous of joining the Indian Navy must be physically / mentally fit as per laid down standards Proficiency in sports, swimming and extra-curricular activities is desirable.

Name of the Course, Age Criteria and Qualification Details:

Artificer Apprentice (AA) - 142 Batch course commencing August 2017 Candidates should be born between 01 Aug 1997 to 31 Jul 2000 (Both dates inclusive) Candidates should be qualified in 10+2 / equivalent examination with 60% or more marks in aggregate with Maths & Physics and at least one of these subjects; Chemistry/ Biology/ Computer science.

Mode of SelectionSelection of recruits is based on the order of merit on their performance in Written Test, qualifying Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and fitness in Medical Examinations.

Written Test:

(a) The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi & English) and objective type.
(b) The question paper will comprise of four sections i.e. English, Science, Mathematics and General Knowledge.
(c) The standard of the question paper will be that of 10+2 and the syllabus for the examination is available on Indian Navy website.
(d) Duration of examination will be one hour.
(e) The candidates are required to pass in all sections and in aggregate.

Physical Fitness Test (PFT):

(a) Qualifying in Physical Fitness Test is mandatory for selection.
(b) PFT will consist of 1.6 Km run to be completed in 7 minutes, 20 squat ups (Uthak Baithak) and 10 Push-ups. Candidates undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk.
(c) Advisory - Proficiency in sports, swimming and extra-curricular activities is desirable.

Medical Standards:

(a) Medical examination will be conducted by authorised military doctors as per medical standard Minimum prescribed in current regulations applicable to sailors on entry.
(b) Minimum height 157 cms. Weight and Chest should be proportionate. Minimum chest expansion of 5 cms.
(c) The candidate must be in good physical and mental health, free from any defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of duties both ashore and afloat under peace as well as war conditions as per Navy Order (Special) 01/2008.
(d) Initial Medical Examination for recruitment will be considered only "Provisionally fit subject to fitness in the final medical examination". Final Medical Examination of all selected candidates will be done at INS Chilka. Candidates who are NOT found medically fit in the final medical examination at INS Chilka will NOT be enrolled for training. No "Appeal" is permitted for review after the final enrolment medical examination at INS Chilka.
